NInety minutes northeast of Rome, La Trota is so far off the beaten path that it is hardly mentioned by the Italian media. But any gourmet who has mastered the Italian dining scene will recommend that you visit these unusually large dining rooms. The reason is simple: Maurizio and Sandro Serva’s menu focuses on the freshwater fish of their region, which they serve with greens and herbs grown alongside a nearby creek. There are also wonderful desserts and a cleverly organized wine list.
